Oman Broadband Company participated in the Khareef Dhofar Season 2025 events, which will run from July to September this year, as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen its on-ground presence, raise public awareness about the importance of broadband services, and engage directly with its partners in Dhofar Governorate to follow up on the company’s projects and discuss future expansion opportunities.
In a special statement to the media, Eng. Sultan Ahmed Al Wahaibi, CEO of Oman Broadband Company, affirmed that the company’s participation in the Khareef season is one of the main pillars of its community engagement strategy.
He said: “We are keen to be present in Dhofar Governorate every year during the Khareef season, given the importance of this participation in terms of community and developmental presence. It is also an opportunity to address on-ground challenges facing broadband projects, visit key sites being implemented by the company in the governorate, and discuss with local officials the mechanisms for expanding the fiber-optic network and ensuring the sustainability and quality of the service across the governorate’s various wilayats, in line with citizens’ aspirations and to support the developmental projects underway.”
This year, the company’s participation included a range of awareness and interactive activities, most notably the launch of advertising campaigns at Salalah Airport on escalators and elevators, along with awareness messages displayed on towers and digital screens in various locations. In addition, the company has organized entertainment activities for families and children at Salalah Gardens Mall, combining fun with digital education.
The company has also hosted the “Jusoor Oman Broadband Forum – A Step Towards Empowering People with Disabilities” in cooperation with the Jusoor Project, featuring entrepreneurial projects by people with disabilities in various fields, including arts, economic activities, handicrafts, and handmade products. The event was held under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Laila bint Ahmed Al Najjar, Minister of Social Development, and attended by a number of provincial officials and stakeholders, as part of the company’s social responsibility and its commitment to supporting humanitarian and developmental initiatives.
As part of its digital awareness efforts, the company has conducted several interactive competitions via social media platforms, focusing on promoting awareness of fiber-optic technology and encouraging subscriptions to the fiber-optic network, aiming to boost engagement and reach a wider audience.
During the event period, the company’s executive team carried out several visits, including a meeting with H.H. Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar, as well as a meeting with H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohsen Al Ghassani, Chairman of the Dhofar Municipality, to explore ways of mutual cooperation and discuss challenges related to expanding the fiber-optic network and prospects for service development to meet residents’ needs. Work teams also conducted field visits to the company’s project sites in the governorate to follow up on progress on the ground and ensure projects are implemented to the highest technical and engineering standards.
This participation reflects Oman Broadband Company’s national commitment to supporting digital infrastructure projects and enhancing the readiness of governorates for modern technology services, in line with the objectives of “Oman Vision 2040.”
