The Ministry of Social Development and Oman Broadband Company have recently signed a cooperation agreement aimed at supporting and implementing vocational training programs under the Post-Care Initiative for juvenile offenders. The agreement reflects the joint efforts of both parties to enhance rehabilitation and social empowerment programs for the groups overseen by the Ministry.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the Ministry by Sayyida Maani Abdullah Al Busaidi, Director General of Family Development at the Ministry of Social Development. and on behalf of the company by Eng. Sultan bin Ahmed Al-Wahaibi, Chief Executive Officer of Oman Broadband.

Under the agreement, a number of professionally oriented training workshops will be funded and implemented for beneficiaries of the post-care programs for juvenile offenders. These workshops aim to promote the values of work, discipline, and self-reliance, while enabling participants to discover their abilities, plan for their future, and develop professional skills that support economic empowerment and social integration. The initiative will provide participants with practical skills aligned with their capabilities and the needs of the labor market, as well as accredited professional certificates that qualify them to enter the workforce.

Approximately 50 male and female juveniles will benefit from the initiative. The program includes capacity-building in fields such as programming, artificial intelligence technologies, and technical maintenance of cars and motorcycles, in addition to specialized workshops for females in home interior design—thus enhancing diversity in skills and expanding sustainable professional empowerment opportunities.

Sayyida Maani Abdullah Al Busaidi, Director General of Family Development at the Ministry of Social Development, stated that the implementation of this project comes as part of the Ministry’s commitment to developing the post-care system for juvenile offenders through qualitative programs that contribute to their rehabilitation and equip them with practical skills aligned with labor market requirements.
